Universal Community Development Organization (UCDO) successfully conducted a five-day training on the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda and Ethiopia’s National Action Plan (NAP) from April 23–27, 2026, in Tarmaber Woreda, Debresina City Administration, at Abiye Primary School Training Hall. The training was implemented under the project “Enhancing Participation, Representation, and Leadership of Women in Peacebuilding and Decision-Making Processes,” with financial support from FCDO through the TIMRAN Project.\\r\\nThe training brought together different participants representing women’s associations, community-based organizations, youth groups, government sector offices, traditional leaders, and persons with disabilities. With a strong emphasis on inclusiveness, the majority of participants were women, ensuring meaningful engagement of those most directly impacted by peace and security challenges.\\r\\nDelivered using participatory, adult-learning methodologies, the sessions were highly interactive and engaging, combining presentations, group discussions, role plays, and experience-sharing. Participants demonstrated strong interest, enthusiasm, and commitment throughout the training, actively contributing their perspectives and local experiences. Key topics covered included the core pillars of the WPS Agenda, the relevance of Ethiopia’s NAP at the local level, conflict analysis and resolution, mediation skills, leadership, and inclusive decision-making.\\r\\nThe training created a dynamic learning environment where participants not only strengthened their knowledge but also built practical skills to apply within their communities. Many expressed motivation and readiness to take on more active roles in peacebuilding processes and to promote inclusive participation, particularly for women, youth, and persons with disabilities.\\r\\nThis initiative marks an important step toward strengthening grassroots leadership and advancing gender-responsive peacebuilding efforts in Tarmaber Woreda. UCDO remains committed to empowering local actors and fostering sustainable, inclusive peace at the community level.\\r\\n
